New Delhi: A court here has acquitted a youth charged with sexually assaulting a girl after kidnapping her in West Delhi about two years ago. Additional Sessions Judge Yogesh Khanna absolved 21-year-old Furkan of the charges under Sections 376 (rape) and 363 (kidnapping) of the IPC as the prosecution failed to substantiate the charges against him following changes in girl's version of the events. Furkan of J.J. Camp in Bawana was arrested with the girl from Tis Hazari court complex on November 29, 2004, six days after an FIR was lodged against him at Narela police station. The court found the girl's medical examination did not corroborate the prosecution's stand. During her cross-examination, the girl admitted to having married Furkan. They were apprehended in Tis Hazari complex when they were going to get the marriage formally registered, the girl told the court. -- PTI
