Vijay Jolly seeks probe into civic projects in Saket

NEW DELHI: The Bharatiya Janata Party MLA from Saket, Vijay Jolly, has accused Municipal Corporation of Delhi officials of indulging in corruption while carrying out various civic projects in his constituency. He has demanded a vigilance probe into the matter and action against guilty engineers posted in the zone. According to the BJP MLA, there is no proper sewage system in Devli village, Sangam Vihar, Devli Road and adjoining areas. A project to construct a 2-km-long drain was revived in 2005 at an estimated cost of Rs. 3.32 crores. The work was supposed to start in July 2005, but got delayed. Upon re-tendering, the project was pegged at Rs. 5.55 crores, a whopping 65 per cent increase in just five months, said Mr. Jolly, adding that the Congress-led MCD was meting out step-motherly treatment to the BJP-ruled constituency and siphoning off public money.

Fund allocation

"I had allocated Rs. 3 crores from my MLA fund for roads, by-lanes, drains and pavements in the MCD wards 59 and 60 falling in my constituency. MCD has been carrying out poor quality work at Saket, Pushp Vihar, Devli Village, Raju Park, Krishna Park and Tigri. The work that was started in December last year has still not been completed" the MLA charged.
