The Hindu-Metroplus Lifestyle Show comes to Bangalore

The event will be organised at Palace Grounds from September 6 to 11

Bangalore: The stage is all set. Palace Grounds will be soon be rocking with one of the biggest consumer exhibition brands in the country — The Hindu-Metroplus Lifestyle Show from September 6 to 11.

The "showcase extravaganza" will be co-sponsored by RMKV Silks, Ekbote Furnitures and Classic Polo casual wear. iCare Communication are the event managers of the show, with Radio City FM 91 as Radio Partners and Sabols as Water Partners.

Promising to be a festival of lifestyle buys and home decor needs, intermingling with contests, never-before deals and effervescent vibes, V. Kalidas, vice-president, The Hindu, Advertisement, at the official launch-function of the exhibition on Friday, said: "Metroplus Lifestyle show, which flagged off in 2004 in Chennai and other southern cities, is stepping into the Garden City with the pulsating character of the supplement being physically transplanted from print to platforms and podiums at the exhibition."

Siva Kumar of RMKV Silks, said: "Decades of association with silk has seen us come up with thematic versions in our weave that has won us two national awards. Our sprinkling of one-lakh-and-fifty-thousand colours in a single sari has enabled us to apply for Guinness recognition.

In the Metroplus show we are eager to showcase yet another unique entwine with 4-borders, 4-pallavs, two different body and designs on either side, he said. R. Sivaram of Classic Polo said: "The Lifestyle show will be ideal for us to launch our shirts and trousers too, as we wanted to see our collection bulge bigger for catering to more buys from public. Bangalore itself has 100 stores dealing with our casual t-shirts. And the exhibition enthusiasm will also see us opening to the denim wear too, for, we release three new designs everyday in the market."

Furniture, furnishings, arts and handicrafts, interior decor, fitness equipments, banking, kitchen accessories, automobile, home appliances, luxury products, artefacts and garments form the interesting categories.

And with an expansive spread of a food court, the melange is going to be an infectious infotainment.

Fashion show

The evening glittered with an enjoyable fashion show brought together by RMKV Silks and Classic Polo, with around 20 Bangalore models taking to the ramp at Le Meridian, the official hosts of the Lifestyle show.

With Tarana Singh, emcee and dancer from Mumbai hosting the show, RMKV's sequences brought to the fore all the variety, 1,50,000 coloured, checks sarees costing a whopping Rs. 95,000 with yet to be labelled shades; double-sided reversible wonder costing Rs. 68,000; their Hamsa Damayanti collection with Ravi Varma paintings and of course party silks with antique kota work, handcrafted by artisans from all over the country.

Generous play of colours, workmanship and ingenuity saw the show as a perfectly timed appetiser for the ensuing exhibition.

And Classic Polo was more than classic with both their genres, Swiss Club, formals and Modal Yarn, casuals.

An assortment of stripes came to the fore in their shirts, what with all the male and female models enhancing every bit of the fabric wonder with goggles and rich black trousers.

The geometry in the earrings and off-hip belts adding more zing to the striped wonders.

The second round of casuals by Classic Polo was steered from the usual ramp sashaying but settled for a breezy rhythmic Hindi number to which models danced their way up and down the ramp, making it a dance floor with disco lights.

Colourful t-shirts, low hip jeans, funky jewellery and ethnic beads, all came in for a heady mix to make it a foot-tapping fashion show, choreographed by Rahul Dev Shetty.
