BANGALORE: Two boys were drowned during immersion of Ganesh idols in lakes on Thursday night. A 15-year-old boy drowned in a lake in Thalaghatapura police station limits on the outskirts of the city. The police gave his name as Sunil, a SSLC student and a resident of Hudhipalya village on Kanakapura Road. Sunil had accompanied a group of people to the Hudhipalya Lake for immersing the idol. When Sunil did not return home, the villagers feared that he was drowned in the lake and informed the police. The staff of Fire and Emergency Services recovered the body from the lake on Friday. The other boy drowned in Ibblur Lake on Sarjapur Road. The police have identified him as Anand (14) of Jakkasandra. The body was fished out on Friday, the police said.
Painter murdered
Following professional rivalry, a man was stabbed to death by a group of painters in Kadugondanahalli police station limits on Thursday night. The police gave the name of the dead as Vijayan (27), a painter and resident of New Bagalur Layout. Vijayan's colleague and neighbour, Johnson (26), was injured in the attack. According to the police, Vijayan had hired the services of a painter Santosh, who was working with Yesu, also a painter. Angered by this, Yesu and eight others went to Vijayan's house and picked a quarrel with him. Following an argument, they attacked Vijayan and Johnson with knives.
