Fresh cases of encephalitis in U.P.

GORAKHPUR: Four children died here on Saturday due viral encephalitis taking the total death toll since April 1 to 123, a health official said. The four deaths occurred at BRD Medical College Hospital, Additional Director (health) Dr Umakant Prasad said here.

Doctors say a new virus is responsible for these deaths. Prasad said 21 new encephalitis patients were admitted in the Nehru Hospital of BRDMCH today. He said more than hundred patients are being treated at the BRD MCH. - PTI
