Job Mela-2006 to be held on September 16

11 IT firms are likely to participate in the event


  • Entry fee for the job mela has been fixed at Rs. 100
  • Rotary Yuva Kendra of Shimoga Rotary Club is organising the event
  • It will be held on the premises of the Acharya Tulasi National Commerce College

    SHIMOGA: The Rotary Yuva Kendra of Shimoga Rotary Club will organise "Job Mela-2006" here on September 16.

    The event is being held in association with the Employment Guidance Bureau of the Kuvempu University and the National Education Society.

    This is the third job mela being organised by the Rotary Yuva Kendra. It will be held on the premises of the Acharya Tulasi National Commerce College here.

    Nearly 11 information technology and engineering industries are expected to participate in the mela, which include HCL, Dell, Progeon, ICICI Onesource, Next India, Mphasis, G.K. Group, Samartha, Glopore IMA and Thomson. Apart from these, local industrial units such as Bharath Industries and Perfect Alloy Components will also participate in it to select technical assistants. President of the Rotary Yuva Kendra P. Narayan told presspersons on Saturday that it was the only job mela outside Bangalore which was being held for the last two years.

    He said that out of 2,500 job seekers 500 were able to be absorbed by several companies in the first job mela while 250 job seekers attended the second mela held in association with the HCL of whom 27 secured jobs. Mr. Narayan said candidates with BE, MCA, B.A., B.Sc., B.Com., BCA, ITI trained candidates and diploma holders can participate in the job mela. Communicative skills and basic knowledge in computer are desirable.

    He said that interested job seekers should present themselves at the mela with their resume and documents in support of their age, educational qualifications and experience, if any, at the venue at 8 a.m. on September 16.The entry fee for the job mela has been fixed at Rs. 100.

    Training camp

    He said a preliminary training camp would be held at the Acharya Tulasi National Commerce College from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on September 9 and 10 in English speaking, how to face interviews and employment information by experts in the field. The fee for this camp has been fixed at Rs. 300.
