NEW DELHI: Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Saturday said proper health care for children was an important prerequisite for making a strong nation. Inaugurating a Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme on "Health and Beyond: Putting Child First" organised as part of the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences here, Ms. Dikshit said: "The mother is the most important person for a child up to the age of five when foundations of physical and mental development are laid." Besides emphasising the need to look after the mothers' health, the Chief Minister said the Stree Shakti camps in Delhi had helped in bringing awareness about personal hygiene, sanitation and cleanliness among women. The two-day CME is highlighting on issues related to children's health including epilepsy, asthma and problems of poor school achievers.
