Studying two-year MBA at any internationally renowned business school in the country will cost anywhere above Rs. 10 lakhs. In some economic but equally competitive campuses, it will be slightly less - may be Rs. 7 lakhs to Rs. 8 lakhs. And, one gets admission only after passing through an entrance test, which will also be costly compared to other examinations. Will it be worth the spending for students? Yes, for those burning with a desire to succeed. Having taken so much money, they surely provide a kind of exposure that is rarely found in most institutions. Students are exposed to both academic and technological exposure at a par with international standards. There is no reason as to why a student from a financially strong family should not take a chance and join such top B-schools. Given the top-grade returns, parents are also showing interest in carving a good future for their children. Irrespective of subject in their under graduation, students are opting for MBA.
Mock tests
Premier entrance examinations like `CAT' are definitely a gateway for students to get bright courses and careers. Several institutes conduct mock tests for CAT. This would be useful to prepare for Common Admission Test (CAT) for admission into IIMs. Apart from this, several institutions are there in the country. `The ICFAI Business Studies Aptitude Test (IBSAT) is an entrance test for admission into MBA programme offered by ICFAI campuses at 18 different places in the country. The IBSAT will be conducted on December 17 this year at 173 centres. Results will be announced in January and admissions will begin in February. The test will be in GMAT format having multiple choice questions to test the applicant's abilities in quantitative techniques, vocabulary, writing skills, analytical reasoning and reading comprehension. ICFAI Campus Programs branch manager B.S.C. Bose says that they conduct mock tests to locate aspirants in regional centres. Talent search examinations are conducted on a regular basis. These tests will give students an idea about preparing for all India entrance examinations, he adds.
