Letters to the Editor
This refers to the report that the TRAI has fixed a maximum tariff of Rs.5 a channel every month in cities where CAS will be operational (Sept. 1). But it is silent on the price of the set-top box on an outright purchase. Viewers will benefit immensely if a maximum retail price is fixed for STBs too.
N. Mahadevan,
The TRAI order has brought the much-needed deliverance to the consumers not only in terms of money payable but also in the matter of choosing channels. They will no longer be forced to watch unwanted channels in the name of bouquets.
Y.N. Murthy,
Broadcasters and cable operators have taken consumers for a ride for long. The fixation of new tariff will come as a relief to hapless viewers. The authorities should ensure compliance.
M.M. Gurbaxani,
