Vinayaka idols immersed

GRAND FINALE: This 21-foot tall idol of Vinayaka was among the idols immersed in the sea in Pondicherry on Sunday.

Pondicherry: Vinayaka idols of various sizes and hues were taken out in procession for immersion in different part of Pondicherry on Sunday.

The devotees carrying the idols on carts and on specially decorated vehicles sang devotional songs. The processions starting from different corners of the town and its peripheral areas converged on the beach for immersion of the idols.

The 21-foot tall statue caught the attention of all. The idol was installed on Avvai Thidal at Saram where regular poojas and cultural programmes were held since the commencement of the festival on August 27.
