Congress leaders all praise for Hooda Govt.

Rajesh Ahuja

SEZ issue given a wide berth at party rally near Karnal

NILOKHERI (Haryana): Congress leaders, including several Ministers, on Sunday heaped praises on the Bhupinder Singh Hooda Government for ushering in integral development in the State at a rally organised in this town and at the same time flayed the opposition parties, especially the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) for opposing the developmental activities in the State.

Interestingly, most of the speakers refrained from referring to the criticism to the setting of the Special Economic Zone in collaboration with Reliance voiced by Kuldeep Bishnoi,Bhiwani MP and son of former Haryana Chief Minister Bhajan Lal although some did refer to it obliquely.

Virtually impressed by the large turn-out thanks to the endeavour of the local MLA, Jai Singh Rana, Mr.Hooda unveiled a bonanza for the area in his speech.

Interestingly, unlike in other rallies, the people waited patiently for Mr.Hooda to speak even though it was past 3.30.p.m.

Mr.Hooda announced that the Government would set up a Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) residential sector in nearby Taraori and the Community Health Centre (CHC) of Nilokheri would be upgraded into a full fledged Civil Hospital for providing adequate modern urban residential amenities and improved basic health facilities to the people.

Nilokheri, 20 kms. away from Karnal, is regarded as a town of "technical institutions." And Mr.Hooda conceded Mr.Rana's demand that a Government College would be set up in Nilokheri and Taraori during next year after the new Five Year Plan becomes operational. He also declared that a road of 40 km length from Nilokheri would be developed as a state highway. Also, a grain market would be set up at Nigdhu.

Railway overbridge

He also assured that the State Government would take necessary steps for constructing a Railway over bridge for Nilokheri and Taraori in consultation with the Government of India which had already accorded its sanction in principle for this project.

He also announced that sports stadia would be constructed at villages Saga, Shamgarh and Kirmach. He also assured to positively look into demands relating to widening of roads, upgradation of schools, setting up of new power sub-stations, pucca side lines of drains in the city, sewerage system for Nilokheri and Taraori, upgradation of health and educational institutions and so on.

While listing the achievements of his one-and-a-half- year-old regime, Mr.Hooda asserted that his Government was committed to solve the power shortage problem by setting up power plants.

Efforts were being made to establish a power plant of 600 MW at Yamunanagar, 1,000 MW at Hisar and 1,000 MW at Jhajjar besides purchasing costly power even at a high rate of up to Rs. 7 per unit so that the farmers got adequate power for irrigating their crops.

Mr.Hooda further added that the Government was striving to generate over 5,000 MW of power during the next three-and-a-half years for providing 20 to 22 hours power supply daily to every village of the State.

An agreement had also been signed with the Government of Delhi for setting up a power plant of 1,500 MW.

Assuring equitable distribution of water throughout the State, he asserted that the Bhakra-Main-Line Hansi Branch Multipurpose Canal was being constructed for supplying sufficient irrigation water to the parched fields of the State especially Southern Haryana where the water table had gone very low.
