Farm award nominations till September 30

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Government has extended to September 30 the last date for receiving nominations for its farm awards.

In a release here on Sunday, Farm Information Bureau said the group farming committee selected as the best in the State would receive a cash prize of Rs.2 lakh.

The best farmer, the best young woman agriculturist, the best young man in agricultural profession, the best coconut farmer, the best vegetable farmer and the best horticulturist would receive a cash prize of Rs.1 lakh each. There are also awards carrying a purse of Rs.50,000 each for the best farmer belonging to scheduled caste/ scheduled tribe and the top exporter of horticultural products.

Top performing woman farmer, farm worker, farm scientist, agriculture development official, farm journalist, poultry farmer, dairy farmer and soil conservationist would get a cash prize of Rs.25,000 each.
