Sandeep, Tarun better own records

NEW DELHI: Sandeep Sejwal and Tarun Tokas bettered their own records in the 42nd Delhi State junior aquatics championships at the Talkatora Pool here on Sunday.

Sandeep won the 100m breaststroke in Group I with a timing of 1:08.98 as he improved upon his own mark of 1:11.58 set last year.

Tarun Tokas won the 50m butterfly in Group I with a timing of 28.14 seconds that erased his previous mark of 28.29.

Jugla Singh Tairak Sangh dominated the relay events capturing seven of the eight gold medals on offer on the day, leaving one to St. Columba's School.

The results (winners): boys: Group I: 50m freestyle: Mohit Kohli 26.59. 800m freestyle: Ashwani Tokas 10:18.21. 200m backstroke: Praveen Tokas 2:17.15 (EMR). 100m breaststroke: Sandeep Sejwal 1:08.98 (NMR, OR: 1:11.58). 50m butterfly: Tarun Tokas 28.14 (NMR, OR: 28.29). 400m individual medley relay: Sandeep Sejwal 5:49.34.

Group II: 800m freestyle: Dewesh Paliwal 10:24.35. 200m backstroke: Dewesh Paliwal 2:44.14. 100m breaststroke: Gourav Rathi 1:19.31. 50m butterfly: Gaurav Rathi 28.37.

Group III: 50m freestyle: Rishabh Panwar 28.76. 100m breaststroke: Aditya Kotia 1:34.56. 50m butterfly: Bikram Randhawa 36.54.

Group IV: 50m freestyle: Tanway Singhal 33.68. 50m breaststroke: Tanway Singhal 39.65. 50m butterfly: Prashant Tokas 30.03.

Girls: Group I: 50m freestyle: Shloka Joshi 31.64. 800m freestyle: Anwesha Hore 10:37.77. 200m backstroke: Meesha Rai 3:08.70. 100m breaststroke: Anisha Choudhary 1:29.84. 50m butterfly: Shloka Joshi 33.37. 400m individual medley relay: Anwesha Hore 6:11.78.

Group II: 50m freestyle: Bhawna Shokeen 29.86. 200m backstroke: Anusnigdha 2:57.74. 100m breaststroke: Devyani Aggarwal 1:30.93. 50m butterfly: Harpreet Kaur 32.85.

Group III: 50m freestyle: Vasundhara Puri 33.24. 800m freestyle: Prerna Chhabra 11:34.33. 100m breaststroke: Tanu Shree 1:37.67. 50m butterfly: Vasundhara Puri 36.10.

Group IV: 50m freestyle: Ruhab Khan 32.53. 50m backstroke: Ruhan Khan 40.09.
