CHENNAI: Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi will be requested to lay foundation for the Indian Institute of Information Technology, Union Minister for Human Resources Development Arjun Singh said on Sunday. After a 45-minute-long meeting with the Chief Minister, Mr. Singh told presspersons that his was a "courtesy" call. He agreed with the Chief Minister on the need for expanding technical education, particularly the Indian Institutes of Technology.
Reservation
On the Chief Minister's stand on the reservation legislation, Mr. Singh said Mr. Karuananidhi was aware of whatever had happened. He knew the difficulties (in the implementation of the legislation). Union Communications Minister Dayanidhi Maran, Member of Parliament R. Prabhu and Higher Education Minister K. Ponmudi were among those present.
