BIDAR: The zilla panchayat will distribute Diethylcarbamezyne (DEC) tablets to the people in the second week of November to prevent the spread of elephantisis and filariasis. "Consuming DEC tablets has no side effects. People should not be swayed by rumours about these tablets. The target this time is 14.46 lakh people in the district. All the departments will work together to achieve complete immunisation," said a release from Chief Executive Officer Jitendra Nayak. "November 11 is observed as National Anti-filariasis Day across the State. An awareness rally will be organised that day. Health workers and volunteers will distribute DEC tablets to the people for three days. As many as 5,815 workers and volunteers will visit houses and give tablets. Tablets are also available in 42 primary health centres in the district. Enough tablets were available in the district, the release said.
