BANGALORE: Tumkur University students, who are not keen on the postgraduate courses offered directly by their university, will have to compete as "Outside university candidates" for admission to such courses offered by Bangalore University. However, this rule will not apply to the courses that are not offered directly by Tumkur University. For PG courses offered only through affiliated colleges of Tumkur University, the applications of students of that university will be treated as Bangalore University students' applications. The Syndicate decided this on Saturday. But the Syndicate made one concession for the students from Tumkur University seeking admission to a postgraduate course offered by both the universities. If vacancies are available after the completion of the first round of admission in Bangalore, they will be given preference in the second round of admission. Bangalore University will hold counselling for biotechnology course from Monday to Wednesday, microbiology on September 7 and 8, zoology on September 7, chemistry and biochemistry on September 8 and 9, and M.S.W. from September 6 to 9 in respective departments from 10.30 a.m.
