`Chief Minister has launched works without getting nod'

Staff Correspondent

MLA threatens to move court if approval is not obtained within a day

Allegations
  • The pre-university college at Hullahalli has not been sanctioned by the Education Department
  • Work on construction of a bus stand and bus depot has been launched without getting approval

MYSORE: Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy has deceived the public by inaugurating development works in Nanjangud taluk without getting administrative sanction, Congress MLA from Santhemarahalli Assembly constituency R. Dhruvanarayan has said.

Mr. Dhruvanarayan told reporters here on Sunday that a majority of the 30 works for which the Chief Minister had laid foundation stone in Nanjangud recently did not have administrative sanction. "The Chief Minister has launched the projects without following the norms. People have been taken for ride," he said.

Although the projects were estimated to cost Rs. 120 crore, there were no specific details of the allotment for each, Mr. Dhruvanarayan said. He blamed Minister-in-charge of Mysore and Chamarajanagar districts D.T. Jayakumar for the "serious lapses." Approval of the concerned zilla panchayat was necessary for most of the projects launched by the Chief Minister. But the Mysore Zilla Panchayat, under whose purview the projects fell, had not been consulted at all, he said. "If approval is not obtained within 24 hours, I will be constrained to file a public interest litigation," Mr. Dhruvanarayan said.

The Chief Minister should have ascertained whether the projects he was launching had obtained the necessary administrative sanction, he said.

Although the matter was brought to the notice of Mr. Jayakumar, he had reportedly brushed aside the objections.

The pre-university college at Hullahalli for which the Chief Minister laid foundation stone had not been sanctioned by the Education department. Similarly, work on construction of a bus stand and depot had been launched without receiving the approval.

The same was the case with the power sub-station at Doora village, he added.
