Act against drivers

Sir, — The Mangalore City Corporation has provided newly-designed bus shelters in a few important places such as Balmatta, Kodialbail and Valencia. But buses do not stop at these places. Traffic police should stop this practice. They should take action against drivers who do not stop at the stipulated places.

Install garbage bins

Sir, — I just returned after a trip to my hometown Bangalore, which I have been visiting at least once a year. There are no garbage bins and there is shortage of public toilets. The one toilet I found was in dismal condition. Authorities should ensure adequate number of garbage bins on every street and public toilets in every locality.

Stray Dog menace

Sir, — Dozens of stray dogs hound people using the road opposite The Forum mall (road to Thavarakare main road, near Ayyappa Swamy temple). At night, dogs chase two-wheeler riders leading to accidents. This has made life miserable for residents of Cauvery Layout, Buvanappa Layout and Bhavani Layout. The BMP should do the needful.

Pot-holed stretch

Sir, — I am a resident of Yelachanahalli and regularly travel on Kanakapura Main Road. The stretch between Family Mart junction and Konadakunte Cross of this road is in very bad shape with more than 100 potholes. When it rains, the road becomes slushy, and skidding of two-wheelers is common here. I request the authorities concerned to re-lay the stretch immediately.
