CHENNAI: In keeping with the entertainment industry's affinity for visual effects where superheroes take breathtaking leaps off tall buildings and cars explode into spectacular balls of fire, another course has been introduced for students interested in this career line. The new IMAX Graphics Specialist course at the IFX Animation Training Centre covers aspects of multimedia that range from 2D animation, 3D modelling, web animation to design and publishing. The one-year course is a full time, 8-hour daily programme open to degree holders. College and working professionals may also opt to do the programme for four hours everyday (5 p.m. to 9 p.m.) over one and a half years. The main selling point of the course is that they guarantee placements through their placement cell ICG Global, says managing director of the centre S. Balaji. He says students are at an advantage as they get to use the facilities of IFX as the course is conducted on the same premises as the training centre in Tambaram. Besides this, students registered for the IMAX course also get to work on live projects being handled by IFX. The IMAX programme costs Rs.1, 20,000. Call 52044033 for more details.
