MADURAI: The Tamil Youth Congress has urged the Centre to make use of its political and diplomatic ties with Sri Lanka to stop the war in the island nation. The State conference of the Youth Congress held here on Sunday passed a resolution urging both the Sri Lankan Government and the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam to stop the war. It also called for an end to military attacks on the innocent people. The conference asked the State Government to take action against political leaders who were "inciting violence for their political gains" using the Sri Lankan issue.
Plea for assistance for youth
Welcoming the Government's decision to give assistance to the unemployed educated youth, the conference demanded steps to generate more job opportunity. The State should create the right environment to attract investments.
