Celebrities pledge their eyes

A host of public figures, including politicians and celebrities, have pledged their eyes to the Dr. Rajkumar Eye Bank at Narayana Nethralaya here. Those who have recently pledged their eyes include the former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda, Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, N. Santosh Hegde, Lok Ayukta, and noted Kannada actors Vishnuvardhan and Shivarajkumar.

Blood donation at Sathya Sai Hospital

Sai Gitanjali will organise a "Blood Donation Activity" at Sri Sathya Sai Superspeciality Hospital near ITPL Whitefield on September 9. Training programme from today

The Multi-Disciplinary Training Centre, attached to the Office of the Commissioner for Khadi and Village Industries, will organise a training programme in "Candle-making" from September 4 to September 9 on the centre premises near FCI Godown, Vijinapura, Doorvaninagar. Elected

The executive council of Southern Power Engineers' Federation of India (SIPEF) has unanimously elected B.N. Sathyaprema Kumar, president of the KEB Engineer's Association as chairman of the SIPEF for 2006-07. The SIPEF comprises power engineers from Karnataka, Kerala, Goa, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.
