Bangalore: The draft City Development Plan (CDP), being prepared under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM), is ready. It will be submitted to the State-level steering committee, said Jawaid Akthar, managing director of Karnataka Urban Infrastructure and Development Finance Corporation (KUIDFC). He was speaking at a function organised by Janapriya Kriya Vedike on "Beleyuthiruva Bengaluru-Ulida Bedikegalu" on Saturday. The steering committee would first discuss the Slum Development Board's plans to upgrade 20 slums in the city under JNNURM, he said. Stating that the CDP prepared by the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) was for a plan on land use only, Mr. Akthar said that the CDP prepared under JNNURM was a comprehensive plan on how the city would develop in years to come. To a query on the lack of public consultations for preparing the CDP, Subash Chandra, secretary, Urban Development Department, said public consultations had been held extensively. Suggestions given by the Janapriya Kriya Vedike would be sent to the Union and State Governments, he added.
