Staff Reporter

Victim mentions facing threats from second wife

  • Jyothi, brother confess to committing the crime
  • She demands transfer of property in her name
  • The accused persons initially mislead the police

HYDERABAD: A diary that was recovered from a house helped the police unravel the mystery surrounding the murder of three family members at Weaker Sections Colony in Medchal on August 6. A woman and her brother were arrested in connection with the case. Bodies of S. Rammohan Reddy (40), his daughter Bhavani (14) and son Sainath Reddy (7) were found. Rammohan Reddy's second wife Jyothi (23) and her brother Madhusudhan Reddy (19) were found with injuries in the house and they told the police that three persons entered the house and attacked them with a pestle.

    Property for children

Assistant Commissioner of Police (Alwal) K. Laxma Reddy told reporters here on Sunday that the details mentioned in the diary by Rammohan Reddy helped the police detect the case within a month.

The jottings mentioned that he faced threat from Jyothi after he transferred the property in the name of his daughter and son.

    Interrogation

"Based on this information, we have interrogated Jyothi and Madhusudhan after they were discharged from the hospital. The duo later confessed to having committed the crime," the ACP said.

He said the accused persons tried to mislead the police by terming it a robbery.

According to the police, Rammohan, who owned a grocery shop, was married to Jyothi after the death of his first wife Laxmi four years ago. Since then, Jyothi had been creating problems in the house demanding transfer of property in her name. After Rammohan transferred the property on his children's name, Jyothi bore a grudge against him and decided to eliminate him along with the children.

    Killed in sleep

According to her plan, Jyothi with help from her brother threw boulders on the trio while they were fast asleep and killed them, the police said.
