BANGALORE: The State Government on Monday opposed before the Karnataka High Court a bail petition by Mohammad Rasool Rehman, the alleged chief of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) for south India. Rehman had moved the court against bail after an Additional Sessions Judge (Fast Track Court), Bangalore, on July 19 rejected his plea for bail. In its statement of objections, the State, represented by State Public Prosecutor (SPP) S. Dore Raju, submitted that Rehman was charged under the Explosive Substances Act and Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. A case was registered against Rehmanin Sadashivanagar police station following a suo motu complaint by Assistant Commissioner of Police V. D'souza. Filing several documents, including reports of the narco-analysis tests conducted on Rehman by the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), Bangalore, Mr. Dore Raju said Rehman had entered into a criminal conspiracy to destroy peace in the State. Justice A.C. Kabbin adjourned hearing on the petition.
