MANGALORE: Neenad Kamath of Belgaum beat compatriot Alok Ragate 21-9, 15-21, 21-16 to clinch the men's singles title in the Karnataka State open badminton tournament, organised by the Shepherd Badminton Club at Kapikad-Ullal, near here, on Sunday. In the veterans' doubles finals, Sagar's Jayaram Pai and Yogish Bhagat defeated the local duo of P.K. Sudeesh and H.P. Suresh 21-16, 21-17 and in the mixed doubles final, the Mysore pair of Sunil Gladson and Roopa Patwardhane defeated compatriots Praveen and Pratheeba 21-16, 12-21, 21-7. Praveen later combined with Gladson to claim the men's doubles crown, defeating the local pair of Jayaram Pai and P.C. Rayeez 21-15, 21-11. E.C. Shepherd, president of the Club, and A. Sadananda Shetty, president, D.K. District Badminton Association distributed the prizes. Staff Reporter
