Army Red bags handball title

BANGALORE: Army Red claimed the title in the Services handball championship, defeating Army Green 29-26 in a closely fought final. Earlier in the semifinals, Army Red defeated Air Force 41-16 and Army Green ousted last year's runner-up, Navy 29-24.

Maj. Gen, I.S. Chaturvedi, Commandant, Selection Centre (South), presided and gave away the prizes.

Surana College prevails

Surana College defeated SBM Jain College 3-1 in the men's hockey tournament of the SPIEL inter-collegiate sports meet, organised by the Student Council of the SJCC. In another match, SJCC and SJASC were locked in a goalless draw.

The results: Men: Basketball: SBM Jain College 37 bt MSRIT 17. Football: NLSIU 3 bt Oxford College 0; Kristu Jayanthi College 4 bt Christ College 2; SJASC 5 bt CMRIMS 3.

Veterans' TT tournament

The Indira Nagar Club will conduct a State-ranking table tennis meet for veterans, under the auspices of the KTTA on Sept. 10. Entries close on Sept. 6. For details, contact Mahesh Nayak at 9844021156.
