VISAKHAPATNAM: The Sports Authority of India has sanctioned annual scholarships to 13 sportspersons from the north coastal Andhra region, according to SAAP Regional Deputy Director K.V. Sankara Rao. The grants are worth Rs. 6600 in the case of a State-level scholarship, Rs. 8400 at the National-level and Rs. 10,200 for college/university students. In Visakhapatnam district, State-level awards were granted to K.S.V. Gopalakrishna (table tennis) and M. Anuhya (swimming) while Vinay Kamineni, D. Vasu and Saketh Sai (tennis); Ch. Mohineesh (chess) and P. Laxman Kumar (swimming) will receive National-level awards. B. Appala Naidu and P. Varahala Rao (both ball badminton) have been selected for the college/university-level awards. Srikakulam weightlifters D. Satya Ratnam, D. Divya Vani, K. Ramesh Kumar and Kuna Radha Rani have been selected for the National grants. — Special Correspondent
