IOB triumphs

UDHAGAMANDALAM: Magnolia Trophy winner Indian Overseas Bank (Chennai) defeated an off-colour ICF (Chennai) 83-50 to win the second State-level invitation basketball tournament for men at the HADP Open Air Stadium here on Sunday.

Southern Railway (Chennai) maintained a clean slate in the league table to claim the women's title.

The results: Men: Final: IOB 83 (Chandrasekar 21, Mihir Pandey 14, Robinson 12) bt ICF 50 (Sikander Oli Raja 21, Ashwin 10). Semifinals: ICF 78 (Sikander Oli Raja 23, Bhubalan 14, Ashwin 21) bt Indian Bank (Chennai) 61 (Arvind 16, Bhuvaneswaran 12); IOB 74 (Swaminathan 20, Ravi Kumar 17) bt Southern Railway 59 (A. Prabhakar 13, Saravana Rajan 12).

Women: League: SR 57 (Adhirai 12, Shyamala 15) bt Vayudooth (Chennai) 34 (Lakshmi Devi 14); SR 45 (Deepa 11, Adhirai 12) bt JBC (Udhagamandalam) 34 (Dhanalakshmi 16, Sowmya 13).
