Rudraksha exhibition opens in Chennai

Collection features beads with one to 21 `mukhis,' priced between Rs. 50 and Rs.12.5 lakh

CHENNAI : An exhibition dedicated exclusively to showcasing varieties of rudraksha beads has been organised by the Indo-Nepal Rudraksha Organisation at the C.P. Art Foundation, Eldams Road, Alwarpet in Chennai.

The show is on till September 10.

The collection features beads with one to 21 `mukhis'.

Besides customary 14-mukhi rudrakshas, the expo also has rare 21-mukhi rudrakshas worth Rs.12.5 lakh.

A one-mukhi bead known as `Savari Naga' rudraksha denoting health and `Trinethram' beads are also available.

The expo also has spatika lingam and chains made of spatika and navarathna. Books in several languages are also on display.

N. Panduranga Rao, director of the Indo-Nepal Rudraksha Organisation, said that it was the first such exhibition in India featuring a rare collection of rudraksha beads. The expo is aimed at creating awareness about the beads' positive effect and sanctity, he said. The beads are priced between Rs.50 and Rs.12.5 lakh.
