Court upholds dismissal of drunk employee
NEW DELHI:
Consuming liquor during office hours and trying to molest the wife of a colleague is too grave an offence, which justifies outright dismissal of such erring employee from service, the Delhi High Court has ruled.
Upholding a decision of the Labour Tribunal which held sacking of the errant employee as "perfectly legal and justified", Justice S.N. Dhingra quoting a Supreme Court ruling said the scope of judicial review is limited to the deficiency in decision making process and not the decision.
Mangal Singh, a sweeper with the Punjab Bhavan, was sacked by the management on charges of drinking.
