NEW DELHI: Even as the Municipal Corporation of Delhi intensified the sealing and demolition drives here in the Capital under the directions of the Supreme Court, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit met Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Monday to discuss the "sensitive situation" and ways and means to sort out the mess. In a related development, the Chief Minister has also written to Union Urban Development Minister Jaipal Reddy on the sealing and demolitions issues, seeking their resolution to the satisfaction of one and all. "I have written to Mr. Reddy and am in touch with all the people concerned to work out a solution and prevent displacement of lakhs of people," Ms. Dikshit told reporters here. It is learnt that Ms. Dikshit met Ms. Gandhi at her 10 Janpath residence on Monday morning. The meeting lasted around 30 minutes. The meeting comes against the backdrop of intensified drive against illegal structures and closure of commercial establishments in residential areas. Both are understood to have discussed the situation in the wake of the latest directions of the Supreme Court and the attempts by the Union Urban Development Ministry to save the situation.
