Free insurance cover for tourists

Shujaat Bukhari

SRINAGAR: After a series of grenade attacks on tourists in July, which led to a sharp decline in their number, the Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Development Corporation (JKTDC) has come out with a free insurance policy for tourists visiting the valley for 15 days. The JKTDC in collaboration with Bajaj Allianz will provide insurance cover of Rs. 5 lakh to every visitor staying in any part of Kashmir for 15 days, said JKTDC Managing Director G. N. Qasba.

"The policy gets activated from the point of entry into the State to the point of exit," said Dr. Qasba. He said the insurance covers tourism activities like adventure sports and trekking and mishaps and natural calamities.
