MYSORE: It is an effort to rekindle interest in art and culture in the royal city of Mysore. For, 12 noted artistes are participating in Royal Art Space, an exhibition of paintings organised at Lalith Mahal Palace Hotel. Since Sunday, Mysore has been hosting an Indian contemporary art exhibition brought to the city by Art Mantram, an NGO that has been formed to foster a healthy, conducive environment for the growth of art and artistic talent. The exhibition, inaugurated by Bollywood star Mithun Chakraborthy, is being attended by 12 noted painters with a number of interesting works in the contemporary art space. According to a press release, Lalitha Mahal has been chosen as the venue as it has most exquisite and expensive art works and a collection of heritage paintings besides having a long history of patronising art and artistes. The participants of the show are V.G. Andani, Vijay Sindhur, M.B. Patil, J.M.S. Mani, K.S. Appajaiah, Srinidhi Seshadri, Ramdas Adyanthaya, Basavaraj Musavalagi, Padman Kumar, Manilal Sabarimala, Ramesh Terdal and Doddamani. The exhibits will be open for display till September 8.
