CHENNAI: Accenture, a global management consulting, technology services and outsourcing company, has set up a delivery centre at Gurgaon in the National Capital Region for application and infrastructure outsourcing and systems integration services. The Gurgaon facility is its tenth delivery centre in the country.
1,100-seat capacity
The centre will provide these services across a full range of technology capabilities, including in the areas of JAVA/J2EE, SAP, Microsoft.Net, mainframes and testing. The centre will have capacity for 1,100 seats. Accenture is now present in cities across India. The Indian centres together serve over 200 clients. Through its global delivery network, Accenture has grown its headcount in India significantly over the past three years, from less than 4,000 in 2003 to more than 19,000 as of May 2006. "India is a key node in Accenture's global delivery network," said Keith Haviland, Managing Director, Accenture Delivery Centre for Technology, in a telephone conversation with this correspondent. Accenture's global delivery network comprises over 47,000 people. It has more than 40 delivery centres in over 30 countries throughout Asia, Europe and the Americas. Mr. Haviland said Accenture looked at India beyond the cost factor. ``India provides us a unique access to a large pool of talent," he said. Sandeep Arora, Lead Executive, Accenture Delivery Centre for Technology in India, said India was closely involved in the implementation of SAP for a European company in several countries. The company, he said, would have an independent technology lab in Bangalore. Accenture had only three such labs in the world.
