Srikakulam : With a view to ensuring better remuneration for farmers's produce, the Government had announced a bonus of Rs.40 per quintal of paddy this season. According to a press release by the district Collector, V.N. Vishnu, the MSP (minimum support price) for paddy for 2006-07 season is Rs.580 for common variety and Rs.610 for the `A' grade. This means the effective price per quintal will be Rs.620 for the common variety and Rs.650 for the `A' grade. Similarly the MSP for red gram would be Rs.1750 (including the bonus of Rs.340) per quintal. He urged millers to pay the MSP to farmers. He took an optimistic view of the kharif season .
