KOZHIKODE : Aliparambu Sivarama Poduval, noted exponent of Sopana Sangeetham, Thayambaka and Edakka, died of cardiac disease at Cherpulassery in Palakkad district in the early hours of Tuesday. He was 82. Sivarama Poduval won the State Government's Pallavur Appurmarar Puraskaram in 2005, Kerala Kalamandalam Award in 2003, Kerala Sangeeta Nataka Akademy Award for Thayambaka in 1989-90, Guruvayoorappan Award for the best Thayambaka artiste in 1990. The last rites were held at his house near Cherpulassery at 7 p.m. with State honours. Revenue Minister K.P. Rajendran represented the State Government at the funeral. Kerala Kalamandalam and other cultural organisations paid their last respects to the departed artiste. Poduval is survived by his wife, a daughter and two sons.
