VARANASI: All major rivers in Uttar Pradesh are in spate following release of over 11 lakh cusecs of water from flood-affected Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. While the Ganga was swelling from Phaphamau to Ballia, the Yamuna was rising in Naini (Allahabad) and the Gomti following suit in Jaunpur while declining in Sultanpur, Central Water Commission sources told UNI here on Tuesday. The Ganga was flowing 1.5 metres and 2.4 metres below the danger mark in Ballia and Ghazipur, respectively. The river was flowing 2.5 metres, 3 metres, 3.5 metres and 4 metres below the red mark in Phaphamau, Allahabad, Varanasi and Mirzapur, respectively, in the morning.
