ADILABAD: T. Madhusudan Reddy, Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) MP, on Tuesday said his party's plan to move a private member's bill in the Lok Sabha on separate Telangana state was intended to force a commitment out of the Union Government on the issue. "In its reply to a debate in Lok Sabha on the issue, the Government has to agree to carve out a new state. It cannot afford to deny statehood to Telangana region fearing the risk of being branded as an opportunistic party. Our alliance with the Congress was based on its support for our cause," he said. The MP is one of the 12 members of the Parliament Committee on Private Members' Bills. He said but for Congress, CPI (M) and Samajwadi Party representatives, the bill would get support for its admission for a debate from the remaining representatives of other parties. He said all other parties have already expressed their support to the cause of a separate Telangana. At a press conference here, Mr. Madhusudan Reddy and Boath MLA Soyam Bapu Rao clarified that their party president K. Chandrasekhara Rao had suspended his indefinite hunger strike at New Delhi under pressure from many leaders in the Parliament and not for any other reason. Mr. Bapu Rao criticised the State Government for the manner in which the TRS MLAs were suspended from the Assembly before it was adjourned. He also criticised the Government for the power crisis and inaction in checking the viral epidemic in Telangana. The MP and MLA urged common people and professionals from Telangana region to make a success of the Siddipet meeting scheduled for September 8.
