RECEIVING HONOUR: Teacher M. Prameelamma being felicitated by the Director of Doordarshan (Tirupati Kendra) U. V. S. R. Anjaneyulu, on Teachers' Day in Tirupati on Tuesday.
TIRUPATI: Felicitations to teachers excelling in their respective areas marked the Teachers' Day celebrations on Tuesday. It is observed annually to commemorate the birth anniversary of former president and a model teacher, Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. The district unit of Lead India 2020 celebrated the day at The Aim Concept School by felicitating four teachers selected for spreading the message on social responsibility, health and hygiene, concern for environment and motivating students. Teachers P. V. Ramana Rao, M. Prameelamma, A. Neeraja and K. Mahendra were honoured by Doordarshan director (Tirupati kendra), U. V. S. R. Anjaneyulu. The students of the school administered the oath of ten points, formulated by President A. P. J. Abdul Kalam aimed at ensuring a better tomorrow for the country. Students dressed as freedom fighters and national leaders sang patriotic songs . The day coincided with the Foundation Day of SV University, where its Directorate of Student Welfare and Culture Association, along with the Alumni Association organised a lecture on `How to be an achiever' and `How to bring glory to SVU'.
Moral values
Kadapa Staff Reporter writes: Teachers should imbue moral values and ensure all round progress of students, Kadapa MEO B. Subbarayudu said on Tuesday. Speaking at Teachers Day celebrations in Pushpagiri School here, he asked teachers to play a vital role in shaping up children as responsible citizens. District Intellectuals Forum president M. Vivekananda Reddy, who presided said academicians should seriously ponder over the growing trend in society to earn `easy money' and ape western culture. Mr. Vivekananda Reddy felicitated three best teachers - Narasimha Reddy of Gaddamvaripalle, Mahabub Basha of Alamkhanpalle and Lavanya Rao of Nellore. Teachers of the school were presented with gifts and the students staged cultural programmes. Thestudents decorated the school premises with flowers to celebrate `Onam' . Principals Siva Kumar and Vinay Kumar took part.
