Court sets up panel on nursery admissions

Committee to submit report within six weeks

Committee directed to invite opinions of parents, schools' managements and people in general

Action Committee once again fails to submit to the court a consensus modality

NEW DELHI: Determined to make the admission process for nursery and pre-nursery classes in schools here helpful for tiny tots, the Delhi High Court on Monday set up a five-member committee under Central Board for Secondary Education (CBSE) Chairman Ashok Ganguly to suggest within six weeks an alternative mechanism in place of interviews for admissions to these classes.

A Division Bench of the Court comprising Justice Vijender Jain and Justice Kailash Gambhir ordered constitution of the committee when the Action Committee of Recognised Unaided Schools once again failed to submit to the Court a consensus modality in place of interviews for admissions to the two classes.The Bench directed the committee to invite opinions of parents, schools' managements and people in general about devising a new admission mechanism and then submit a comprehensive report to the Court within six weeks.
