GULBARGA: The State committee of the Communist Party of India (CPI) has initiated a move to forge an alternative front consisting of secular forces and Dalit organisations to fight the BJP-Janata Dal(Secular) combine and the Congress to provide a corruption-free and people-oriented Government in the State. CPI district unit secretary Shoukat Ali Alur and other senior leaders including Gopalrao Gudi, Padmakar Jani and Subash Koule told presspersons here on Tuesday that CPI and CPI(M) leaders had already held discussions with like-minded parties such as Bahujan Samaj Party, Republican Party of India, Sarvodaya Party and various Dalit and farmers' organisations, including Karnataka Rajya Raita Sangha (Puttanaiah). It had become imperative for the secular forces in the State to come together to expose corruption and maladministration bythe BJP-JD(S) combine and the Congress party in the State. Mr. Alur said that the CPI(M) was actively involved in the current moves to bring together like-minded political forces under one platform.
`Anti-people' policies
To highlight the "anti-people" policies and corruption charges faced by Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, his family members and his Cabinet colleagues, the party's State committee in its recent meeting had decided to launch a State-wide public awareness rally from Gulbarga to Bangalore city. It would be inaugurated by CPI National Council Member Sudhakar Reddy on September 11. It would reach Bangalore on November 27.
