SHIMOGA: The blood bank of the Shimoga Midtown Rotary Charity has been granted the ISO-9001-2000 certification by the AQSR India Private Ltd., New Delhi, last month in appreciation of its providing safe blood and blood components. It is the second full-fledged blood bank in India to get this prestigious certification, the other being the Prathama Blood Centre in Ahmedabad. With this certification the blood bank has been able to streamline its management system according to its chief medical officer K.N. Sanjay The blood bank initially established in a private building in 1996 was shifted to its own spacious building constructed on a site allotted by SUDA.
