NIZAMABAD: Farmers led by Telugu Desam Party, on Tuesday, staged a rasta roko at Sadasivnagar on National Highway 7, demanding that the Government assure uninterrupted power supply for more than seven hours to the farm sector. The agitation continued for half-an-hour. As a result, traffic was disrupted on both sides of the road. On being convinced by the police, the agitators relented easing the traffic jam. Former Minister Nerella Anjaneyulu, Telugu Desam Party state general secretary Yousuff Ali and former MLA Gampa Govardhan led the rasta roko, according to information reaching here. Addressing the gathering, the TDP leaders said that due to frequent interruptions in power supply to the farm sector, standing crops were drying up causing financial problems to the farmers.
