NALGONDA: More than 75 farmers hailing from seven thandas under Kondrapol feeder in Damaracharla mandal on Tuesday attacked the electricity assistant divisional engineer's office in Miryalguda in protest against heavy disruption in power supply. The farmers, predominantly owners of small land holdings, thronged the ADE office to bring their water woes to the notice of higher-ups but there were no officials to pay heed to their problems, according to the information reaching here.
Slogans
Raising slogans against the officials and the Government, the irate formers ransacked the office. They broke the furniture to vent their frustration. The ryots alleged that their crops were withering due to lack of water in the absence of continuous power supply. "Since the power supply is unbearably erratic, we are in for a heavy losses," the ryot leaders told reporters.
Officials threatened
Some of them brought bottles of pesticides along with them to threaten the officials with suicide. They left the place only after the police assured them of arranging a meeting with the electricity officials.
