HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad Division of South Central Railway (SCR) is preparing to get ISO-9000 Certification for its Diesel Loco Shed and Multi-Modal Transit System car shed (Electrical Multiple Units) at Moula Ali and Rolling Stock Maintenance unit at Kacheguda in the city.
Maintenance
While the rolling stock maintenance unit involves in the maintenance of basic amenities like toilets and seats, apart from monitoring technical aspects in the coaches of different trains being operated under the division, the EMU at Moula Ali caters to maintenance of MMTS rakes plying in the twin cities. In a first endeavour of its kind for ISO Certification, the division as a preparation is conducting familiarisation classes for the staff, especially for the Group C and D employees.
Training agencies
According to Hyderabad Divisional Railway Manager Rajiv Vishnoi, professional training agencies like Bureau of Indian Standards and other private agencies are being considered to train selected staff, including technicians and supervisors. "In what would be a practice for nearly six months, we are expecting the ISO 9001:2000 certification by March 2007," he said.
Top priority
Besides staff training, system requirement and equipment configuration would be given prime importance under the proposal. Once the employees get acquainted to standards of certification, the performance of rolling stock material and MMTS would be much better, he added.
