UDUPI: Medical Education Minister V.S. Acharya said on Tuesday that the State Government has allocated Rs. 5,400 crore for the education sector. He was speaking at the Teachers' Day celebrations organised by the district administration, here. Dr. Acharya said that the State Government had started 700 primary schools, 385 high schools, 124 pre-university colleges and 14 first grade colleges. In 1965 there were just 635 primary schools, but now there are nearly 12,000 primary schools in the State.
