CHENNAI
: Japanese patent officials will train a batch of 20 Indian industrialists on how to obtain Intellectual Property (IP) licences as well maintain and enforce them.
According to officials of the Japanese Patent Office and Japan Institute of Invention and Innovation, the three-week programme would emphasise the importance of obtaining a legal definition of ownership over intellectual creations.
Moreover, ways of managing the licence and generating revenue through it would be communicated.
Brinda Mohan, senior partner with IP law firm Mohan Associates, said Japan has the most stringent patent system. "I underwent the training programme after I was nominated by the Ministry of Commerce and Trade," she told the media on Tuesday.
The participants will be selected from those who took part in a seminar on IP information and maintenance with emphasis on Japanese patent systems.
The seminar was organised here on Tuesday by Japanese officials in association with Controller General of Patents, India, and Mohan Associates.
Officials of the Indian Intellectual Property Alumni Association said more than 100 persons participated in the seminar, aimed at companies, research institutes and educational institutions promoting innovation.
