AMID YOUNG FANS: Actor Trisha with children at Cancer Institute, Adyar.

CHENNAI : More than 30 children at Children's Home at Cancer Institute, Adyar, had nice time as actor Trisha spent more than two hours with them.

The children received the actor with roses, as she began the visit arranged by the Trisha Fans Club.

She went around gifting toys, mingling with them and later, had a lunch with the youngsters. Her most moving moment came as she encountered a four-month-old baby getting treatment for cancer. She took the child in her arms for quite a while.

"I always wanted to take up social work. My fan club was started though I did not permit it. But when I came to know that it was all social work, I was really moved. So I decided to join in the programme with children," said the actor, who has also done blood donation.

She also wanted to start a care home for abandoned and street dogs by joining hands with the Blue Cross and the SPCA.

D. Jesi, who heads the fan club, said that since its founding on May 4, the club has adopted 10 orphan children.
