Donning their teachers' roles

Staff Reporter

Teachers' Day offered a refreshing break for teachers and students alike

VISKHAPATNAM : It was a delight to watch little children donning the role of teachers. Boys and girls dressed in dhotis and saris with a book in hand walked with grace and poise to match that of their teachers. Many children wait for the great opportunity to enact their favourite role and show off their oratorical skills.

Florists did brisk business on Monday and Tuesday as students made a beeline to buy single bud roses and bouquets to greet their teachers on the occasion.

A single rose and other flowers, which are normally sold for Rs.5, were sold like hot cakes for Rs.10 in the last two days. Bouquets were sold for a minimum of Rs.50. While schoolchildren greeted their teachers with roses and greeting cards, their counterparts in colleges and the university charmed them with bouquets, fruits and pens.

The children of classes II and III of VBV High School, Seethammadhara, took classes for pupils of class I.
