Mega health camps for flood-hit families

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Mega health camps are being held for the flood-affected families to ensure better treatment for serious ailments, if any.

For those in the East Godavari district, the camp will be held at Mummadivaram on September 8 and on the consecutive day (September 9) in Srikakulam district, in the grounds adjoining the district headquarters hospital. The date for a similar camp in Khammam district at Bhadrachalam will be announced later.

C. B. S. Venkataramana, acting Principal Secretary, Health and Family Welfare, has interacted with the district medical and health officers through a video conference here on Monday, issuing necessary instructions . He said the camps were primarily meant for offering "specialist" treatment. About150 doctors and para-medical staff would be present at each medical camp. "Referral cards" would be issued for serious ailments so that patients could go to super-speciality hospitals in Government sector.
